Nobody Loves You Like Your Mama

Happy Mother's Day to all of you mother's, soon to be mothers and future mothers!!!!!

The title of the blog says it all, but you know me better than that. In the past 6 years I have lost two mothers and I cannot begin to tell you how much I miss both of them. I am here because of them and better because of them.

Now don't get me wrong, I had problems and issues with both of them. I was very angry with my mom for many years. Partially because of her shortcomings as a parent, partially because that's what we kids do and partially because I didn't know her history. I will spare you the details, suffice it to say I was (am?) a jerk.

And my mother in law, Jean, well she was a mother in law in the beginning. I had issues with her. That's not a bad thing, that's what son in laws are supposed to do. Or so I thought. We battled for many years until I realized it was my battle, she  never wanted to fight.

As I learned about these two beautiful mothers, and how they cared for each and every one of us, I realized how lucky I was. They were my biggest supporters through thick and thin. They never doubted me. They challenged me when I needed it,  picked me up when I fell and stood in the background when they should have. They loved me, unconditionally.

So, today and everyday, love your mama back. Do something special for her. Find her an old movie that moved you (my mom loved Young Frankenstein - I bought it to make her laugh), a song, a poem. Show her that you love and appreciate her, don't waste any years.

I sit here today with so much love for my moms and am sending them a kiss and a hug. And I'll do something special for my wife, daughter in laws and every mother I come across.

Because, nobody, NOBODY, loves you like your mama!
